1 PETER 2:17           

 

1. HONOR ALL MEN.

A. Because they are made in image of God: intellect: understand Mt 13:15

                                                                                                  Believe Rom 10:10

  Think. Prov 4:23; 23:7

Emotion Mt 22:36-39

Will Rom 6:17-18

 

B. We are different from animals. Instinct vs instruction.  Psa 32:9

C. Blood A 17:26; flesh 1 Cor 15:39

D. Because of the example of Jesus.

1) Ate with sinners.  No respecter of persons.

2) Died for all men. Heb 2:9

3) Because of blessings they can have here and hereafter.

 

2. LOVE THE BROTHERHOOD.

A. Each church autonomous with elders. Tit 1:5; A 14:23; 1 Pet 5:1-3

B. But there is a brotherhood.  Col 1:18

C. What we owe local church: loyal, support worship, work, teaching, financial.

D. God’s church over the world is the brotherhood.  Jesus is head only organization.

E. Sinful to build up one church by tearing down another.  Brotherhood!

 

3. FEAR GOD.           

A. Two kinds of fear.  2 Tim 1:7; one talent: hinders families, church

B. Ecc 12:13-14

C. Leads to respect for: church, Bible, obedience.

 

4. HONOR THE KING.

A. Obey. Rom 13:1-6

B. Pray. 1 Tim 2:1-2
