TRUTH  OR  TRADITION?

“Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?”

Matthew 15:3

ETERNAL SECURITY #1

Once In Grace Always In Grace¼..Truth  or  Tradition?   Can a Christian fall from grace?   Can one who has been redeemed by the blood of Christ so sin as to be eternally lost?   There are some passages that would seem to  teach that.

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me;   and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”   (John 6:37).   The key to understanding what the Lord is saying is  the word  “cometh.”   In Old English  “eth”  on the end of a verb meant continuous action.   He that keeps on coming to me.   What if one stops coming¼stops following Jesus?    A rich ruler came to Jesus on one occasion,   but went away sorrowful.   He stopped coming.   (Matthew 19:16-22).   One came to a wedding feast,   but was cast out because he was not properly clothed.  (Matt 22:1-14).   If he keeps on coming (following),   Jesus will not cast him out.   But what about him?   Does he not have the freedom to walk away?   Does he  lose his freedom of choice when he becomes a Christian?

“My sheep hear my voice,   and I know them,   and they follow me:    And I give unto them eternal life;   and they shall never perish,   neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”   (John 10:27-28).      What if they stop following?  As long as they keep following,   they have eternal life,   and no man is able to snatch them away,   But are they not free to walk away?   Do they lose their freedom of choice when they make the decision to follow?

“For I am persuaded,   that neither death,  nor life,  nor angels,   nor principalities,   nor powers,  nor things present,   nor things to come,   Nor height,   nor depth,   nor any other creature,   shall be able to separate us from the love of God,   which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”   (Romans 8:38-39).    The so-called golden text of The Bible:   “For God so loved the world¼”   (John 3:16).    Anybody God doesn’t love?   Does that mean everybody is going to heaven?   The prodigal son was never separated from his father’s love,   but he was separated from the blessings of the father’s house,   and had he remained in that far country,  he would have been forever separated.   (Luke 15:11-32).
